How did a personbecome a famous musician or great athlete? One mightsay it was due to his innate ability combined with longhours of practice. However, in addition, there are someindirect conditions that had to be involved. For example,in order for one’s innate abilities to be manifested, oneneeds good physical health and all the factors that con-tributed to such good health. In turn, one’s health isrelated to that of his parents, grandparents, and otherrelatives. In like fashion, what are the conditions thatinfluenced a person to practice and work hard? Obviousfactors are things like the support and encouragementof family and friends, societal role models, etc. It is said, “No man is an island.” Life is more complexthan simply “A caused B” or “I (he) did that.” Manyproblems in life result from an over simplification intaking or giving credit and blame when trying to under-stand why things are the way they are. The main point is that allthings are interrelated and therefore all things areimportant. This is the reality of Innen. It should also be pointed out why Richard usedthe words “Home Spread” in naming his center. To find one’s home is a significant thing. This karmic spreading is often illus-trated by how the perfume of incense spreads. As part of the Bright Dawn Home Spread Dedi-cation Ceremony, an incense burner was passedaround by everyone. When incense is lit in oneplace, the perfume spreads to all nooks andcorners of the building. This is the physical law ofover, the perfume of one’s actions also spread allover. This is the spiritual law of karma. Forexample, when a teacher influences a young mind,we never know where that influence will endso forth.
